Hooked on Craft Challenge - cardies will love this one!!

Hooked on Craft challenges has a great challenge this month - sure to make you think twice about making a card ... you need to have a card with more than one fold.  There is some fabulous inspiration on the site, and it would be great to see what you can come up with.

Here's my sample ...

Yes, a bit different with all white, but I think it calls out 'wedding' or maybe even 'new baby'  :)

I've used some great products from the Hooked on Craft store:

Crystal Leaf Stamens (love these!!)

Misc Charms - butterfly

And a little more news with this post, Karen has asked me to join the Design Team for Hooked on Craft!!  There is a fabulous range of paper flowers and leaves, along with trinket pins, stamps and more.  Pop in and have a look - the prices are fabulous too.

Thanks for stopping by.  Let me know if you join in the challenge - would love to see what you come up with. Cards with more than one fold can be so interesting.

Happy Monday!!

Embossing with Opals

It's been a while since I have used my Opals (super thick embossing powder) but after walking around the craft show a couple of weeks ago in Brisbane, I decided to get them out and have a play.

I started with some A2Z chipboard hearts, inked them up and embossed three layers of embossing powder.  Opals are brilliant for layer upon layer of embossing.  After I finished the last layer, I impressed it with a rubber stamp to give it some dimension.  (Don't use cuttlebug folders ... not a good idea!! Yes, speaking from experience - the opals are too hot for the plastic. And be careful not to touch the hot opals ... blisters!!)

Once the stamped impression had dried and cooled, I then rubbed in some Metallic Rubons.  This dulls down the shine of the Opals a little and adds some extra colour.  I did Red Opals with a gold rubon, and Gold opals with a red and gold rubon.  The little red heart also has some dimensional magic over the surface.

And here they are on a layout.  I really struggle to photograph acetate!  It looks great in real life, but I always manage to get a reflection in the photo!

And this gorgeous little bunch of flowers are Hooked on Craft's leaves, mini roses and berry head stamens.

Thanks for popping in.

Cheers,
Sandra

March Sketch at A2Z Scraplets

It's no secret that I just love the style of my husband's photography!  I love it that I have great photos of the kids to scrap (when they get off the computer!!), and I love that we have such wonderful images from our holidays.   This photo however was a little difference ... who else could make power poles look so good???

I've used A2Z Scraplets chipboard powerpoles, Hooked on Craft paper leaves, mini alphas, Basic Grey alphas and thickers.

Oh, and this is the sketch from A2Z this month - hop on over and check it out!

Cheers,
Sandra

this is me ...

I don't often scrap photos of me, it's not too often I see a photo of me that I really like ... but I liked this one.  So here I am ... ME ....

Just couldn't get rid of that reflection of the photo (it was laminated - school project!).  My handmade flower, ribbon from Craft Queen, button from Purple Pumpkin, charm from My2Angels, and chipboard words and dress form from A2Z Scraplets ... all the usual suspects :)

I wanted to get a bit of black and red into the chipboard so I mixed up some distress ink (black soot) with perfect pearls (perfect red) and quite like the shiny red sheen to my black mist.

Thanks for looking - I love reading your comments :)

Danger ....

Beware of mean pirates!!!!

It was pirate day at school last year, and we weren't very organised ahead of time, but with a few bits and pieces, we managed.  All we needed was:-

- thick cardboard (pizza box - plenty of them!!) - reinforced with bamboo skewers
- alfoil
- black paint
- newspaper
- a few rhinestones to add the girly touch
- a printed out skull and crossbones

We had a homemade pirate had and sword in no time.  We even had a mascara-ed scar for a while, but it didn't last the distance!

A charm from My 2 Angels pulls out the hidden journalling.

A highlight on the chip banner from A2Z Scraplets - painted pink, tied with bakers twine, and alpha-ed on top :)

I'm glad I stuck with the girly pirate layout - I think I like it :)

about a girl ... my little girl ...

I used the sketch at Purple Pumpkin this month to create this layout of my little girl ... not so little any more, but always my little girl.

Here's the sketch ...

And here's my take on it ....

I've used a chip title and vine from A2Z Scraplets, a tag and buttons from Purple Pumpkin, ribbons from Craft Queen, Prima flower centres and a little charm from My 2 Angels.

There's still time for you to give the Purple Pumpkin sketch a go too :)

Cheers,
Sandra

Back to School with Bella

I played along with the Bella! sketch challenge this month using School Dayz papers.  I created a layout and a card - I love the colours in these papers, as well as all the great 'school' things - rulers, sayings, colours - just perfect!  I've also added in some washi tape and of course a spotty button to match the school uniform.  This is a bit of a funny photo for us as I dressed Josh with white socks ... apparently that is dorky according to my husband who went out and got grey ones for the 2nd day of school. I've never been one to really get with the fashion and didn't think it looked to bad until he pointed it out - sorry mate, this is what you looked like on your first day of school :)

Thanks for looking :)
